On September 8, 2024, Harlem Community Church officially launched, marking the beginning of a new chapter in God’s unfolding story for the neighborhood. The church found its home in the 135th Street YMCA, a structure built in 1918-19 as one of the first African-American YMCA buildings in New York City. This iconic site once served as a vital hub for intellectual, social, and cultural life during the Harlem Renaissance, offering a space where African Americans could gather, grow, and thrive in a time of profound change and challenges.
